Erika is our Holistic Health and Wellness Coach. She works closely with her clients, helping them implement effective lifestyle changes to maximize their mental and physical health. Her approach is rooted in bio-individuality, meaning there is no one size fits all when it comes to health and nutrition. Everyone deserves a unique and tailored plan, based on their biology and circumstances. Her goal is to support every client in their mental health journey by guiding them into a more nourished life. This includes: -Nutrition…Erika and her clients discuss personal nutrition and eating patterns, and explore how food and nourishment changes can improve mental health and focus. -Sleep… Erika and her clients determine what's inhibiting deep restorative sleep, and explore how to improve sleep hygiene and quality of sleep. -Daily Routine …Erika and her clients discuss the importance of routine to bring calm instead of chaos, with the goal of lowering cortisol levels. (High cortisol is associated with a variety of mental health issues and diagnoses). -Hobbies & Interests …Erika and her clients discuss the benefit of infusing hobbies and interests in their daily lives that are not work or school related. This includes helping the client make room for self care, and minimizing any obstacles getting in the way of creating restorative time for themselves. -Physical Exercise…Erika and her clients explore ways to exercise that are body-friendly, enjoyable, and realistic. She helps each client find ways to move their body that don't feel like punishment, but rather another form of nourishment and stress-relief. -Screen time…Erika and her clients discuss their screen and screentime habits. She helps clients implement tech boundaries and improve their relationship to screens (phones, TVs, video games, etc.) in the interest of decreased anxiety and depression levels. -Sunshine and Nature…Erika and her clients explore the positive effects of getting enough sunshine (and therefore vitamin D) in our daily lives (while always encouraging proper use of SPF!). -Supplements…Erika and her clients explore where they may be deficient with vitamins and minerals, and where supplementation may be warranted. Erika has done research on the best quality supplements and can make recommendations for B12, D3 combined with K3, L-Methyl Folate, Fish Oils and many others. Erika and your psychiatric provider are aware of any contraindications with supplements and your Medications. -Blood work…Erika, if concerned about deficiencies or thyroid or hormone levels wreaking havoc on a clients health, can ask your psychiatric provider to order blood work for things like CBC, Hormone Panel, Vitamin D Levels, Thyroid Panel, and a test to see if the client carries the MTH-FR genetic mutation. -Hormone Issues….Erika and her clients can discuss whether hormones may be affecting a clients mental health. Erika can work with your psychiatric provider to do a hormone panel for adolescents who have heavy or painful menstrual cycles, women who are perimenopausal or menopausal and men who may be showing signs of low testosterone. Erika is a Graduate of the Institute for Integrative Nutrition in NYC and is a Board Certified Health & Wellness Coach. She began practicing in New York City before moving to Bucks County and joining PS Psychiatry. She has clients all over the country and of all ages and circumstances. Erika believes in a holistic approach to mental health, and the deep connection between the mind and body.
